Founded in 1963 by Max Frandzel, our company was built on the philosophy, “if you don’t have it, you can’t sell it,” emphasizing the importance of maintaining a large inventory. This principle, combined with our unwavering commitment to customers, has established Mid-West Wholesale Lighting as one of the largest independent wholesale lighting distributors in the United States. Despite our growth, we remain true to our original core philosophy: to provide the utmost value and service to our customers and vendors, as these are the two most important components of our business.

Mid-West Wholesale Lighting Corporation was founded in 1963 by Max Frandzel at the age of 47, when most people start planning for retirement. He opened Mid-West’s doors in November at 601 N. La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles, California, initially running the business alone before receiving help from his two sons, Alan and Bob. In 1975, with five employees, the company moved to its current location at 5250 Hollywood Boulevard, opening with a complete lighting showroom and stocking every type of lighting, including decorative fixtures and chandeliers, track, recessed, low voltage, ballasts, fluorescent, HID, and lamps to suit every need. Today, Mid-West continues to meet and exceed customer and vendor expectations, with salespeople regarded as some of the most knowledgeable in the lighting industry, and remains a third-generation, family-owned business.
